The Canadian government has wisely retracted its ill-conceived digital services tax, purportedly to pave the way for a fair and equitable trade agreement with the United States. This decision, announced late Sunday, highlights the importance of protecting American businesses from unnecessary government overreach and corporate elitism.

In a firm response to Ottawa’s misguided tax initiative, President Trump unequivocally declared over the weekend his intention to terminate all trade discussions with Canada. This bold stance serves as a clarion call against policies that stifle innovation and economic growth.

The recent statement from Canada outlines a collaborative agreement between Prime Minister Carney and President Trump, signaling a commitment to resume negotiations with the goal of finalizing a deal by July 21, 2025. This renewed focus on free-market principles is long overdue.
